Rastamouse

Rastamouse is a British animated stop motion children's TV series aired on the Cbeebies channel.
The show follows a crime busting mouse reggae band 'Da Easy Crew' around Mouseland as they solve mysteries and make music.

The cartoon has become very popular but there was some speculation in the British media that the Rastamouse cheese was an allusion to cannabis even though the cheese could clearly be seen in the episodes. Also there were complaints to the BBC network about the use of Jamaican slang and racist overtones that were alleged.

This children's series Is of interest to me as the characters have a caribbean accent and speak with some Jamaican Patois terms.

After watching a variety of episodes, I feel inspired to make the Nanny in my cartoon have a caribbean accent. It would be just the Nanny as she is the eldest and can carry on the traditional Jamaican language and roots.  This would be a personal idea to base the character off my own grandmother Edna Williams who was Jamaican Caribbean and spoke in Patois. On quite a few occasions I couldn't understand what she was saying to me, so adding this memory of mine into the carton could create some humour, plus young caribbean children of today can relate to this as they are mainly only used to hearing a British accent.
